The feel of my work, with the strength of the combined metal, has been inspired by my love of nature as well as my travels -- a combination of the colors of earth and hard-edged urban.
I first became interested in jewelry and beads when I was 12 years old. My mother gave me an old necklace that had hundreds of seed beads, and I promptly took it apart to play with the tiny colors. I didn't realize then that this was the beginning of a life of creative expression. Each of my beaded spheres begins with a wooden core that is dyed to match the seed bead exterior. Meticulously hand-weaving each sphere, I cover the core entirely with tiny glass seed beads. In addition, I create most of the sterling silver components that encircle, run through and top the spheres.I developed my bead weaving techniques 15 years ago and have been perfecting them ever since. For me it is all about her love of texture and color, and the power of tiny colors coming together to create something larger.
